  • The Lundahl LL1941 is a high-performance moving coil step-up transformer designed for premium MC SUT and moving coil preamp applications. Configurable for turns ratios of 1:16 and 1:32, the LL1941 is an excellent choice for low-output moving coil cartridges requiring low noise, natural dynamics, and precise cartridge loading.

The transformer is fully compatible with the MC1 DIY Kit, allowing you to build your own high-quality moving coil step-up transformer preamp using the same Lundahl technology found in high-end commercial MC SUT designs.

The LL1941 combines Lundahl’s unique uncut amorphous cobalt core with their dual-coil architecture and Cardas high-purity copper wire in an oversized design intended to maximise musicality, headroom, and detail retrieval. The result is a moving coil transformer that punches well above its price point while retaining the organic, engaging sound Lundahl transformers are known for.

Available with either copper or silver wire depending on your system preference and budget.

Every LL1941 pair includes a free HASL mounting PCB suitable for DIY moving coil SUT projects. For premium builds, you can upgrade to an ENIG gold-plated PCB for an additional £10.

Most Lundahl transformers are wound to order and typically require a 4–8 week lead time. We do however stock selected popular models, in which case your order will ship immediately.

Instructions

  • Select your transformer model and step-up ratio
  • Enter your phono input impedance (default is 47kΩ)
  • Enter the desired load impedance for your cartridge
  • Optionally enter cartridge specs for gain predictions
  • Click Calculate for loading recommendations

Notes:

When the desired load is below 40 Ω, you’ll see an advisory suggesting a primary-side load. Calculations still run normally.

"No resistor required" - Phono input already provides suitable load
